howway bob im still waiting for my answer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! who thinks im right and who thinks im wrong we will put this to the vote

on a boat i think it takes the same skill to catch a 1lb cod as it does to catch a 20lb cod
it depends whats swimming past your bait at the time

just my thoughts

not biting gary!!!! you mentioned the skill thing about catching a cod not me....as sless says it its what swims passed your bait at the time, i would love to catch a cod the size of yours in the boat comp and would not really care if i got 1 point or a million points, your fish won it thats surely all that counts in this instance, is their a right and wrong as long as you enjoy catching them no matter of there size ?????

Sorry lads and lasses i\'ve started a similar post in the General-RNLI section, must admit I did\'nt see Gary\'s post as I was having alot of problems signing in last night etc.
The problem we\'ll have is if its not \"topped\" it will disappear down the list, theres alot less posting in the General section and this is where the RNLI section is as well.
Some great points here as well maybe TC can \"copy and paste\" over if he\'s happy.

bob im not trying to make you bite ;) .ile put this another way for u and sless,if i wanted to target small codling i would use small hokeyes with strips off squid ,if i was after the big fellow i would use a big cod rig ,dont get me wrong you still get the small fish but you stand a better chance off a big fish, also we dont wait for them comeing to us we find them, lol ;) .any way thats my point over back to this comp thing ,and raising money for the rnli.ile go with the flow wotever is decided

gary

no probs gary...i was trying for a bigger fish by going to the rock marks, unfortunley nobody bothered to tell them were i would be at crawleys or north crab hill, likewise where ever you decide to hold the next comp count me in

bob im not running it lol. but i know one thing ile bring a genny and some lights so we can each other,i give a thought for friday then forgot lol.

gary

it did cross my mind for a beach comp possibly the blast as most of dont fish that way including me would make a nice change.

thinking about comps in general, i would personally rather fish a nesa comp and donante to rnli as most of the comps that are on dont bother donating to a charity. Also as various people have said in another post its not about catching fish its just getting out etc etc.

not to sure how easy it would be to arrange a regular NESA comp say every month. i\'m sure that giving one fishing night up a month would not be a lot to do and also it gives us the chance to meet up on a regular basis and also raise a few quid as well as win a few quid

just thoughts

Ive fished twice this week. and theres more bites in this post than Ive had !!!! LOL..
Ive no problem fishing on the Wear.... but Im buggered if Im parking my car there with my plates on!!
Ill get a lift cheers!!

It seems to me that the only thing missing from this club is having regular matches, like any other Sea Angling club. How about we run regular club matches, then maybe have an open once a year?

well theres some canny ideas about so wot we going to do its a good idea to have 1 a month, and who would sort it out.

I posted this in the RNLI \"general\" area in the topic about \"the next shore comp\".........

As far as the \"open\" or \"NESA only\" question goes........

The idea of holding these events was to allow NESA members to get together, have a natter, meet new faces and hopefully, catch some fish,
with the entry fee (or at least 50% of it) going into NESAs \"RNLI Fundraising Account\".
I\'ve got absolutely NO objection to NESA members bringong along a couple of mates to take part....BUT the suggestion of turning these events into \"Open Competitions\" is a different matter, altogether.

Yes, I appreciate that if we had a hundred or more taking part that the amount raised for the RNLI would be considerably higher. First and foremost, NESA is a fishing website. We\'ve created an almost \"family like\" environment on here. That\'s the way I\'d like to see the little fund raising comps remain.....almost like a family get-together. That atmosphere would be lost if the comps became Grand Affairs.

We do have an \"Open\" every Summer....the Big Boatfishing Comp.

Those who were here when I first suggested NESA raising money for the RNLI will recall that what I suggested was......
1 BIG annual event which would see all the money raised from it go to a local N.E. RNLI Station coupled with.........

General donations and several smaller events thoughout the year to raise money for the RNLI Central funds.

As far as I can see, we don\'t NEED a BIG shore competition......the ones we\'ve had in the past have resulted in very good turnouts from NESA members and I din\'t see any need to change that.

As far as date and venue goes......that\'s up to the organiser of the event. Yes, it would be great to get a date, time, venue that suited EVERYBODY.......but that\'s never gonna happen....no matter how long it\'s discussed.

well said tc are you going to organise the next one ;) ;) ;) do you not think the montly one is a good idea

south shields open donated £750 to the rnli today
i was in the photo when the cheque was handed over

Gary not everyone lives in this area so you would probably find the same few people fishing each month plus theres the insurance issue, quite a few lads are in there own respective clubs I think so that would create problems as well IMO

I personally think that the \'Open\' part of the comp has problems from various different avenues....one of them being public liabilities insurance......this in itself is a massive problem and that is FUNDING. We would have to pay for a policy before any monies are raised and because non of us are being paid to do what it is we do for the comps it would have to come from our own pockets.

We would also have to have a proper competion licence (i think) because it is being held on public property but if we keep it to ourselves and as a fun comp with the bare minimum of rules then we reach our goal which is to have a laugh and raise a bit for the RNLI.

OK..... there seems to be a lot of duplication going on here.

In an effort to stop that and the confusion it could cause, I\'ve closed THIS topic.

If you\'ve any suggestions on fund raising comps, please post them in the \"General\" section in the RNLI forum......you\'ll find there\'s already a topic there on the same subject.
