Hard day today after a great mornings fishing.

Managed 7 ling,1 codling and 100 mackerel.

All ling taken on flappers and the codling on a leadhead.

1st spot was a ling of 28lb 13oz caught by me (it was 32lb 7oz when caught)
jfk

2nd spot was a ling of 18lb 2oz
jfk

3rd spot was a ling of 16lb
Diamond

Canny day out and a few quid to take home and a nice rod for myself.

Just a shame a few of the bigger fish never turned up as most seem to be 4lb-6lb ling.

Should have mentioned it sooner but a BIG THANK YOU to Alan Skinner (Skipper of the JFK) for once again taking a gamble and finding the fish on what was a very hard day's fishing for all.

Nice ling richy ! i suppose for every 100 small ones there is a one that will even make you smile ! OR DID IT ????

Well done mate "Good things come to those who wait"
they dont come much bigger than that around here :)

I cheers lads was a right good fight and yes it made me smile for most of the day.

It was nice to catch something abit bigger as this year i have never caught so many ling around the 3-6lb mark.I just hope that a small hook prick in the swim bladder will not kill them and they can make it to a double.

It was a P.Best for me ling wise and beat my old P.B of 28lb by just over 4lb.
The money wont come in wrong and the boat rod seems a corker so i might even smile when i get to use it.

rumour has it aboard JFK that you might even buy a new reel :) to replace the one you couldnt lock the clutch on LOL :) :) well done again rich ...

Yer it was abit of a panic for a few mins Norman.

I got about 15-20 turns on the fish before it decided it never wanted to go anymore and dived for the bottom, it stripped line from the reel with ease before i put the drag on full to pull it away from the wreck.

Half way up with the drag on full it strated going off it and stripped line off the reel every dive. I started reeling in, the handle was turning but not the spool, so it was a pump and wind action for the last 40-50ft.

It's a new penn 325 boat reel and i have landed a Tope over 40lb on the same set up, 10-12lb class rod and that reel.I just think it must have been the tide pull in the fishes favour.

Anyway it made for a good fight and the video one of the lads took of the fight and the landing makes for funny watching.

Well done on the woppa ling, you must be over the moon with that.

Hope you manage to get that video clip up on here for us to have a nose at.

I am having problems uploading a few fish pics.Who do i email them to our days on here and can i have an address please.

Richie ...you won a rod?

I'll give yah a fiver for that old broomstick you were using...

or 4 quid if you chuck the reel in with it as well ;)

If you or anyone else needs a video hosting for on here I can host it or you can use u tube for a lower quality picture.

Cheers
Dave

broomstick lol 10-12lb class rod has served me well the last 8 years.

The reel is abit suspect mind, may invest in a new one.

I have 11 boat rods and only 3 boat reels so might make it 6 boat reels by the end of the month :)

The rod is a 20-30lb class 7ft snowbee thing, lad said it was worth £250 like but never checked up, only looked at it once.
