Roker Pier last Tuesday (the night Deanwar lost his rod over the side), float fishing with ragworm for about 3 hours from 5.30pm to 8.30pm and got nothing but loads of tiny Coley.
But as soon as the sun went down around 8.45 so did my float, had a nice little battle on the rod and pulled this Pollock out.
I don't know what weight it was, but it was a decent size (the pic doesn't do justice, those were big, moonfleet ragworm I was using), my PB Pollock anyway, and the best fish I've caught so far:
Would of looked nice on a plate, but looked nicer alive so the fish went back in unharmed.
As I was re-baiting the hook I heard a splash then a WTF! turned to see Deanwar looking down into the water, his rod gone! (did you get it back mate??)
Not long after, the float shot under again but I lost the fish, then again and I had another decent fight, I thought it was another Pollock, but it was a nice sized Coley (and my PB Coley aswell), went back in as well.
Wished I could of stayed as the fish were definatley biting, but I'd left my car in the main car park so had to get back before they locked it up, will park further along next time.
Really slow first few hours with some good action in the last 40 mins, and a really nice pair of fish.
