went back up stonehaven way on hogmanay(must be mad)another 250miles on the car lol but it was worth it with the sea still running.
it was a bit slow to start with, the seas been away for nearly a week and the fish are most likely stuffed, the bites we had were all finicky and the fish we got were mostly lip hooked.Steve had four out, all peas in a pod 2lbers and nice and clean.
i put a second rod out into a gulley full of white rough water and left it for a while and on my other rod i had 5 out with two of them going 3lb+.
the second rod had been bouncing around with the rough water but i noticed a slight twitch a couple of times so i held the rod for a min and got a small bite, waited for the next one and fish on,snagged up straight away with the rod still twitching from small fish on the other end,10 mins of giving line etc i went for the break and pulled the small fish out of snag.
small fish then turned out to be decent fish
with the rod buckling over and a satisfying nod on the rod,the swells were a bit nasty for landing the fish but i got it on the highest ledge after the 3rd swell.
not having my scales with me(coco (Chris) still has them in his box) Stevie estimated it as a 10lb+ fish and thats good enough for me,he has photographed plenty fish to be a good guide on sizes.
all the fish were happy to be pictured and all returned, might be a bit blind with the amount of flashes that went off lol.
Happy new year to you all.
i am now melted
