Nice weather and a few fish

Had planned earlier on in the week to get out today, so was pleased to see the forecast stayed as it was supposed to.
Was out at around 7:30 am got to our mark for around 8, nothing doing, so we headed south, around 2-3 miles off hawthorn, we picked up the odd small fish and a few mackeral. We then decided to use the mackeral as bait and as soon as we did then we started seeing a lot more sport, took 6 Codlings biggest at 6lb, around 20 whiting {some nice ones} only half a dozen mackeral, and last and biggest fish of the day was a ling of 7lb, which nearly ripped the rod out of me hand when it got hold.
there was a slight SE breeze picking up and with an hour of no fish we decided to call it a day, gonna have a beer and watch newcastle get stuffed of WBA to put the icing on the cake of a decent day.
