Nightfishing / Bass

Decided to have a try for bass last night. Had some ragworm from the weekend to use up and headed for the north side of Creswell about 7.30pm. Had not a bite till the match finished on the radio then 4 sets of bites in a row. Th result was one missed, one small schoolie, one about 2lb and one nearly three.(Didn't take camera but took this in the morning)

I was using two rods, one at about 90 - 100 yds and one about 40 yds needless to say all the fish fell to the close in rod, the other just caught a weever. Even put a smile on the wifes face - bass instead of mackerel tonight!

Lovely pair of spikeys there. I'm just imagining them scaled and wrapped in a foil parcel with butter, white wine and a few herbs. mmmmmmm

Not too much weed Tony until you tried casting over the second sand bar. I'd love to know where they hide through the day mind. The boss has just had a bass fillet pan fried in butter - she reckons you don't want to spoil the taste too much, I wouldn't know, don't like seafood!

well done m8 nice catch and wereabouts do you fish along cresswell beach 4 bass ive been twicebefore but never caught anything just a few decent bites i could do with a few tips on were 2 fish along the beach any particular places ? and baits ?

I was fishing on the sand north of Creswell.You really need to have a walk at low water and pick out a hole or gulley you can easily reach at high water. Bass seem to like to feed around high water in the dark,a little bit of sea running and for some reason rag (I've found ) seems to be the best bait. I use a two hook (1/0) paternoster rig and grip leads.All my bites happened in the space of about 30 mins in 4 hours fishing time - a long time with nowt.

well done! ive had two bass this week one on tuesday night and one lastnight, a 2nd a half lber and lastnight a 4lber, hope theres more to come.
