No access in Whitley Bay..?

Been all along the seafront this morning trying to suss a place to fish over low water but there were barricades and police tape at the access point of every prom Barr Cullercoats which I didn't fancy anyway and Whitley beach had a big flashing warning sign. Fair play to them like, I ended up having a can and hoovering - caught the same amount of fish I normally would as well...

The sign has been up for a few days now, since the mega-high tide. I cannot see the council enforcing it, and wouldn’t take any notice anyway, do they really think that they can prevent access.
Anglers should just check the conditions and make their own choices, just like all the dog walkers are.
