i went down sheilds pier for a few hours and nobody was catching any mackeral what so ever...the swell was pretty big aswell..might explain it

Was only on Blyth pier about 40mins last night to let the bairn try his rod out, didn't see many caught myself though, just one plus a sandeel for us and only the odd one coming in to other people.

It was fairly choppy at :) Roker today as i had a walk along to see if there was any catching, loads of people on the roundhead but all the mackeral(only a few i seen were mainly getting caught at the second set of steps right up past the first set as well all fishing into seaside, may be good float fishing up the barrier or further up for them as the water hopefully will totally clear up. Also had a walk along the ratty, on the corner of the ratty there was stacks of sprat some being forced to the top by what looked to be coalies also at the pier this was strange as i never seen any at the pier but loads at the ratty maybe at the end of the month its time to start float fishing of the end of the old north pier for some real sport, 8lb line with a 4lb hooklenght fish with macky strip(belly) and catch coalies, big mackeral, pollack and bullheads.
Also when i walked up the pier kids were throwing golf balls:mad: from the top down towards the bunker and could have easily hit somebody on the head and it was the usual  once a year fishermans that were doing this also they were leaving stacks of rubbish on the roundhead. Roll on if they bring a yearly membership and key process out just like they did at similar piers, this will hopefully keep all the stupid anglers or so called anglers away and people will have some peace whilst fishing.

if they do do a gate and key thing on roker hope it works beter than ours at seaham the use alkinds to climb from the bay side to access the peir

I went along the Heugh at Hartlepool today 12:30 pm. It was low tide and the water was very murky. If was,nt on nights would have stayed and fished up the tide but left as it did,nt look very promising.
I was sure the water was clearer about 500 yards out but it may have been the cloud.

Mick.
