Did the the lead crack off or was it a case of hit in the cast.
Coming over lad is the thing to do before you cast.![]()
Right or wrong i never have and never will use a shock leader in the winter, i use 30lb straight through.
I hate pulling weed from the small knot
I hate tieing them on
I hate thinking about all that extra line floating around when you snag up
I have seen more near misses with shock leader than with out i.e the lead not snapping off and comming flying back towards the angler like a wrecking ball swing.
Am sure many will agree and disagree but that is my opinion of it and to be honest does not count for owt as i dont shore fish at all with leads over 3oz anyway as i dotn beach caster fish.

nowt worse than tying leader on every time ya snap off or stuck on a freezing night ,ive gone heavier line straight through which has resulted in less line snapping and less rig loss with only snood loss or maybe just hook or lead![]()
plum mate did ya catch out :question:i think its chinese whispers or bull, cos i fished the heugh all saturday night.and no mention of this, anyone snapping off shouldnt be fishing next to folk i dont snap off i use 30 straight through,![]()
I use 30 straight through aswell, never had a snap off yet, not worried about it either as I always fish where no one is around, lol I'm unsociable.
