I have since toured 5 tackle shops in our area looking for a high range reel such as a shimano torsa 20 or the penn international equivalent. I am sad to say that the local shops just don't stock and high price gear, yes I understand stock sat on the shelves make no money but means I now have to order from waymouth where such gear ia sold. Shame aa rather get local and keep the money in the area.

Anyway to the point before I order online. No one has seen a torsa 20 local by any chance?

there are two good tackle shops in Whitby that stock big boat reels got a nice shimano lever drag reel there few years back worth a try

if you ask the shopkeepers they will probably order one in for you, dont be shy, they wont bite, and the chances are that if your wanting one there is more chance of them offering a better price as it does not involve expensive stock sitting on the shelf, its merely in and straight out, if your prepared to order online unseen then you should be willing to see your local shopkeeper

Thanks Paul i had asked at one shop but was told unless i was going to purchase it it would not be ordered in.

I am after a Shimano Torsa 20, i have seen the 30's and like them but abit big so if the size of the Torsa 20 looks and feels right on my set up i would purchase one local on the spot.

Very few shops seem to stock any reels over £200 in value and that rules out all the Internatinals, Torsas and such.

yes the biggest problem is that if we bought in half of the top reels you will find the customer looking to spend the money wants one you have not got, and with internet sites a lot of them dont actually stock them but will have them shipped direct from suppliers, no overheads and no outlay, great, what i was trying to say was if your backed up in a corner and no shops stock them and you are prepared to order online then give your local shop a chance to offer a deal, you will be keeping the business in the area and he/she may be in a position to give you a keener price as there isnt any overhead for them to buy in for you, either that or look at different reels rather than the shimano one, some great reels around in different tackle shops

Do you stock any type of Torsa's or Internatinals? you not that far from me but dont often pop in as live 2mins from Frasers but they dont stock what i am after either.

I dont unfortunately but try Billy in North shields or I.D. in byker, I am sure both would be keen to offer a good price if thats the particular model you want, without going into the politics you have certain shops blocking others getting accounts and then they dont stock the brand very well, I can get those reels in if you were stuck but I would rather you try a shop with a shimano account, I am a great believer in free trade and there are enough anglers to go around all the shops, I am not interested in cutting anyones throat but if your stuck, get in touch

Richie have a look at the snowbee 10 reels brilliant reels solidly built and so light and bring the fish in no problem, you will get one through frazers as well

Cheers for all the info lads, i have ordered a Torsa 20TS and a Torsa 16N to replace the old fav's the Shimano tld's that i have at last got sick of repairing but have served me well.

Now we just need the weather to test them out, about 14 more weeks left of the 2014 season for me minus holidays away etc.

They look the part cheapest I could find was £434 from America. I looked at them before for the shore but could find a person willing to mag one.

I got them alot cheaper than that from Australia but may get stung for vat, time will tell and even at 20% it will be cheaper than £400.

Hope not to need to buy anymore reels once these two come.
