Winter time beach fishing

Flat sea, clean water

Sunny, light winds from west

Summer time boat fishing

Dirty stirred up water

Gales from all directions with ENE being the norm

Yes, don't like to be pessimistic but even when (if) the wind corrects itself to a westerly aspect it'll then take a couple of weeks to correct what goes on beneath the waves :(

Pretty lousy start to the season...the only happy person in my house is the wife! :red:

Its worse when the fishing was so good with bags of 40+ codling before the NE winds started, as you say the dirty water killed it a couple of weekends back and will of only got worse now...gutted :(

I like to have a different approach...

weather is an integral part of our hobby..the good, the bad and the ugly. There are other hobbies to chose from if we dont accept that (Darts, Snooker, Chess etc)

We are like a surfer who can only appreciate the perfect wave after hundreds of hours in the water.

I love to see the sea changing within a day, an hour a minute...sometimes its frustrating..

But the humbling magnitude of mother nature is what I like about it...the unpredictability is part of the fun (like in football).

If everyday would be great conditions, with Gin-like water and wrecks full of 30 pounders waiting for your shad---IT WOULD BE BORING

However---To me it looks like you get a nice break next weekend and the post of "Mistress" suggests that there is fish about.

I work all weekend coming and I do not moan---but look forward to a tremendous season ahead
