7am saw a bandof hopefuls set sail into a gentle swell.what would the day hold? would the curse of the big tide be upon us?
as it turns out very much a day of two halfs.

the remains of the ebb tided fished with some nice cod around 5---7lb coming aboard,a few of them courtesy of dusty bins rippers. also a couple of ling.

the afternoon and flood dealt a death blow to the catching, apart from mackarel, wind picked up too making for a fast drift.

still a pleasant enough day at sea and all seemed content, booking up for another date in august.

tomorrow still brings big tides:question: and of course kayos and codqueen:)

lets hope mr.kayos dosent do to north star what he did to jfk2:D:D:D

I heard you had a few fish Duncan! I think I need to think about checking tide sizes from now on, never knew about big tides being bad! :(

You learn something everyday. Bit depressed again now! :(

We've had some of our best catches during big tides.

I'll second that Keith :) it'll be fine mark, the one thing we never plan around is the tide size, sometimes plan to fish it up or down or miss the slack water top or bottom but usually ignore the height of it ....... :). :)

Looking forward to the catch report. :) :) :)

Ps nice report Duncan, cheers mate, 5 to 7lb best size cod around

big tides are less of a debate now than they used to be some years ago.

yet i know of one skipper in the n/east that wont even go to sea in them:o:o

and yes folks plenty of proof that they dont influence that much:D:D

Its not so much that they have an influence on the Fish Duncan. just fast Drift. I don't book any trip on the big Tides personally.
