This is not far off

321 fished 69 weighed

heaviest fish 7lb 110z Alec Harvey
heaviest bag 12lb odd didn't catch the lads name in fact i didn't catch anything fished pern carr newton not a touch.

Conditions....Windy as Fook :o

me face is still red from the battering it took...caught nowt, few good knocks but the wind was making it hard to fish IMO

Good Craic tho and a well run Comp....got nowt in the raffle this year, always next time ;)

Had 2 fish for 6lb 12oz, best a codling of 4lb 12oz, but was a couple of minutes late for the weigh in (along with quite a few other lads!) so no result for me :(
Considering the size of the boundaries, & despite packing up nearly half an hour early to try & get back in time, I think the half hour weigh-in period was a bit short. :(:(:(

Unlucky mate that would have gotten you well up the prizes:(

Think you are right that it's a bit short a time for the weigh in but i'm sure they would have had a good reason for it. Sure last year it ran over quite late holding everything up. (could be wrong as usual tho)

i think i know who you are and where you fished.
embelstones.
well if thats the one you actually thought the weighinn was 4pm until i told you otherwise, dont know why you thought that.
anyway i with a pal left at 10 past 2 from emblestones and it actually took 38 minutes to get to car,you were still fishing when we were half way across beach,i comented on this as you had fish and could be well up the prize list.
i cannot understand why anyone would actually stay on a mark until the last minute when it clearly stated in the rules the weigh inn finished at 3.30.
thats one hour to get back.its always been apparent when fishing the northern boundries in any open you would always give packup 20 mins to get back on time.
i also think the others lads in question where at beadnell.well the winner was there and made it in plenty of time along with alec harvey and jim dobey who both had good bags and made well before time.
iam sorry you and the other lads missed the weighinn but rules are rules.
bet most fishing the northern marks in opens in the future who have good bags of fish will leave at least 15 mins before actual end times.
well done on catching the fish to all that entered.hope to see you all next year .

its not that the lads organising the open dont want to weight the fish but think of the situation.an angler fishes the comp up north or down south has a good bag of fish or a very good fish.he/she knows they may well be in with a chance so leaves sharp so know they will have plenty time to get to weigh inn.
fish weighed they stand to win.
then competitors fishing marks north or south fish till end of match and too have good catches they travel back to find they are stuck behind traffic and are 5-10 mins late.never mind the organisers will weight the fish and they beat the competitor who packed up sharp and got back in time this would cause sheer hell on.why should the guy who gets back in time loss to some one who arrives late because they fished the whole comp.
i think the rules and times are fine and without them would cause mayhem.
its like some one catching a fish the night before and weighing that inn the next day, surely you lads can see the sence in these rules, they are there for everyone and no exceptions are made.
its like the lottery you only have a given time to claim the prize then thats it,not sorry a have just found it a day late and want me money, hmmm.
sorry to bleat on but a can see the sides of both and dont think anyone can condem the rules that are set.

Hi mate, yep, that was me! We actually came off only 5 mins behind you (reeled in at ten past two), the 4 o'clock thing was something I'd overheard earlier (should know by now not to believe in hearsay!). Made it back to the car in not too bad time but caught some real sunday drivers en route back including one old boy on his motorbike doing no more than 20 along a particularly bendy stretch ... grrr! (I wasn't driving though - if I was I might have been tempted to shunt him...lol!)

The point I was making about the weigh in time is that it would seem to me that you shouldn't have to pack in up to 40 minutes early (as Alec did at Beadnell) - you should be able to fish a comp to the end and have time to get back to the weigh in. This means that with boundaries that are a good hour away (even if you could magically reappear at your car instantly) you'd be hard pushed to get back on time. I'd have thought a 15 period to get to your car, plus up to an hours drive, plus say another 15 minute leeway to allow for conditions would be more fair.

At the end of the day though, it's the first time I've ever missed a weigh-in, so chalk one up to experience! I'd have been happy with a bucket of sinkers to replace all those I lost, but I'd be curious to see where I would have finished - I'll check for the results tomorrow. :)

last year was an extra 15 mins and by the tie the weighinn actually finished most people had ben there for over 2 nd half hours then had to waifor us to complete the formalitys.
its a very fine le to get right to pleae everyone.
thin you would of finished inbetween 4-7th but am too knackered to check results thnite.al post when done.

You're quite right, some weigh-ins do seem to go on forever! I'd read through the booklet earlier in the week (got my ticket on monday) to check on hook limits, sizes etc & remembered fishing times & everything, but for some reason didn't remember the advertised weigh in time, hence asking others earlier in the day. I'm guessing they didn't remember either!

I'll look up my "unofficial" place tomorrow lol! :red:

hope this helps and a big well done to all that fished and made it a great day.
hope the prize table was upto scratch.a big thankyou to all sponsors and those who supported the open in any way.ps all juniors fishing wether weighing inn or not got a spool of line sinkers and a greys cap.
22 prizes were left over and those left were asked to put tickets in box and they were picked at random.
there were some of course trying to say they someone else but hey they are the small minority.

seems a bit stupid that people cant fish to the end of the competition??

smaller boundaries or longer weigh in times??

people who fish the match know there are giving there day up for it, so for people to not be able to actually finish to the end comp because of the boundary length [travelling times}of course doesnt make sense.....leaving your mark 40 minutes early?...cmon surely this cant be right
