Cracking session tonight. Headed to the mark about 4pm to fish the flood. There was quite a sea on, but it was sheltered where I was. Was gutted to see a seal there when I arrived. Not to be deterred I set up anyway. Nothing during daylight but as it started to get dark I pulled one in about 1lb. There was quite a bit of weed on the surface but it eased off as the tide flooded. Even though it was a small tide it flooded in quick. The wind died to nothing and it seemed to get warmer.

As the tide picked up I got another about 2lb. About 3/4 into the flood I cast in and put my rod in the stand to bait up a spare trace. I noticed a knock so picked up the rod and waited. I felt another small rattle and struck. At first I thought I was snagged but it started to move. I presumed it was a big ball of weed as I pumped it in. However, about half way in it went mental and dived for a ledge. Then there was no movement, it was stuck fast. I gave it some slack and fortunately the fish took off freeing itself. It thumped hard from then on. I pumped it in further and as it broke the surface I thought 'finally a doubler!!!' I managed to get it right to the side where my friend lifted it for me, a nerve wracking moment! It hit the scales at a smidge under 8lb. A cracking fish and a fantastic 20 minute fight. It had another hook in its mouth with part of a snapped of trace on, so someone dipped out!!

I managed another one about 4lb for a bag of 15lb. My mate had 3 for 6lb. We stopped as I have work tomorrow or we would have definitely hung round for the ebb. Bait used was crab, blacks and mussel. Great night and the weather dropped off perfect! Looking forward to more of the same tomorrow night!!! Pics from tonight below.
