Wow!, what a brilliant days boat fishing we had on Friday, with well over 100 fish in the 2 to 5lb bracket caught between just the three of us in only a few hours.....my faith in North Sea boat fishing has finally been restored.
An invitation to fish from the Beadnell area high up in Northumberland was one that was impossible to refuse, the area is one of my favourite places to fish and on a cracking day weather wise, a day out here was always going to be good.
A 4.30 am start at Beadnell Harbour and it's flat calm, get in!!!!
Within 15 minutes we were fishing the hard ground around the Newton Bouy which marks some fairly shallow rough ground around a mile out that's normally stuffed with fish in June.
Fish guaranteed!
Gregg manouvered the boat not far from the bouy putting us straight on the fish and it wasn't long before some decent ones were coming aboard to, two at a time to baited lures was pretty common.
Nice size for my barbecue tomorrow afternoon, very tasty.
One of the best days boat fishing I've had in quite some time.
By 7am we had enough fish for family and friends and all fish went back to the sea after that with no casualties to speak of. The fish here put up a great fight in the relatively shallow water and are off like a shot to the bottom again as soon as they are returned to the water.
Fish to double figures are very possible along this stretch of coast but the majority are between 2lb and 6lb, with the odd Ling, Coaly and Wrasse to.
Today fishing in perfect weather, we had Codling, Coaly, Ling, Wrasse, Mackeral and Sea Scorpion.
What a day it seems there's plenty of fish in the sea once again, many thanks Greggthe1 and Chris for the invite. I've been walking around with a huge smile on my face ever since, until the next time. Tightlines!
