Novice at the helm!!

Please be kind if you see someone new out there who looks like he doesn't know what he is doing!!
Finally returned to boat ownership after 25 years of convincing myself that beach fishing will improve one day!! Seeing some of your catch reports has been the last straw so spent the savings on a shiny new boat.
Put her in Sunderland marina on Friday last week, the Lucy Olivia, a Quicksilver 530 pilothouse.
If any of you see me making a total hash of things please feel free to offer advice it will be willingly accepted!!
Just need the weather to give me a nice window to get out and play in relative comfort!
I look forward to posting my first catch report, although that could be some time off yet!
Thanks in advance to anyone who takes pity on me and puts me right when needed!!

Thanks chaps, decided to miss out the bit about the ongoing cost when I sold the idea to the nearest and dearest!!
My previous boating experience has been off the lincolnshire coast, all trailer launches and uptiding at anchor in relatively shallow water, this negotiating around a marina and getting on a berth is a bit of a challenge! Not to mention setting up a drift over a wreck, got a feeling I will miss the wreck more often than hit it!!
Still looking forward to the learning curve!!

Sorry Jester did not see your post before replying, I am on the pontoons on the left as you come down the walkway, looks like one or two warriors and predators along there and another quicksilver 500 think its the chloe jane?

Welcome Codcrazy, to the chaotic world of boat fishing. There'll be days when everything will go against you, then the next, things will run smooth and calm, which makes it all worth while. Like whats been said, hope you have deep pockets, but then, look around the marina and see all the like minded people, they can't all be wrong, can they.

Yes welcome dont read any of my posts or you will be packing in straight away.

Joking aside it is great having your own boat in terms of you can go out when you want and fish the way you want for as long as you want, the only down sides are the constant costs of running a boat, i think mine costs me around 2k a year, i have just paid £830 for a 10 year service/overhaul so this year its almost 3k running costs.

Best doing what you have done and ask people, most boaties will help each other out. happy boat ownership.

I had a quick look at your boat this morning, very nice , brand new and nice and shiny so you will have a few year of trouble free boating, warranties will cover most things so peace of mind there.

I liked your new mooring ropes so i swapped them for my old ones.....only joking....
