Has anyone ever tried using octopus as a substitute for squid?
Sometimes got it at Morrisons when they don\'t have squid in, plus it\'s thicker and doesn\'t cost that much. A tentacle would look great tipping off a bait.
Tried it a few times and never had any luck with it, used to get loads in the pots, fish wouldn\'t eat it but I did. Tastes quite canny when deep fried.
