Let you know how I get on. I havent fished it since 1983!!
Which reminds me of a tale.
I worked at Electrak, in Consett. Few ofthe lads stared a fly fishing club, one lad, who I shant name, was having trouble casting. I gave him a few lessons on the grass, and he said hed practise over the weekend. I advised him not to put a hook on, till he was a bit more proficient, in case he hoohed himself.
He came in on the monday, with two stitches above his eye, cursing his wife for opening a cupboard door as he walked past.
His brother came in, and said,"Have you seen our Ians eye?" we said yes, he walked into a cupboard. "Did he hell" said his brother, " Turned out he decided the reason he couldnt cast was he had nothing on his line, but me having told him not to put a hook on..............

had tied a half inch nut on instead. ouch!!

Just realised.
Its Nine years today since my old fella passed away.
so there'll be two of us at Witton.

Not a bad day at all.

Tied up some Olive nymphs the way my Dad used to tie them, and decided, in honour of him, Id call them "Haswells Olive",
I took 8 fish on them today, lost 3. Mate borrowed one, and took 2 in four casts, then lost it when a fish snapped him.
Ill be definitely tying some more.

Brother in law has just bought a gatehouse up there and he has free fishing rights some part of the river.
I,ll have to get up there sometime.

Off to Witton Castle on Saturday, it's ages since I fished down that way.

I'm pleased you had a good day Paul, you've given me some idea what to use, your/Dads Olive Nymph certainly done the trick. Back to the vice;)
