off topic... free pc!!!!!!

if any of you lot are after a new pc but skint check this out, a pc completely free at http://www.metronomy.com/ theres a few terms and conditions attached (you have to watch 3 mins of adverts every hour the pc is used being the main one) but even so sounds canny if you\'re on a tight buget !

what do think, is it worth it ?

HI MICKY makes u wonder whats in for them . or you can watch all them free adds on tv and they cant see what u are doing a supose it mite be good it if it helps get shot of all the peeds n pervs off the net.

There\'s been a few similar deals like this come and gone in the past, have to say that some weren\'t as free as they made out, whether this one is different is hard to say, seems legit though...

Think the last one\'s i heard about were catching people out with silly delivery charges and some worrying terms and conditions that were vague enough for them to get away with murder... Can\'t remember the name of the one that hit the press big time a few years back, but they collected in a lot of £50 deposits and managed to only trickle out a couple of shoddy reconditioned old machines before vanishing...

you have to watch 5 minutes of ads every 20 mins. they send you cd everymonth which you load onto the computer, and no matter what you are doing the ads come up right on cue. If you don\'t watch the ads the thing grasses you up and they take it back!

They have had schemes like this running in the states for a couple of years and from an advertisers point of view they work really well. If you are watching telly you can switch channel. With the pc, people seeem to sit there blindly waiting for the ads to finish. It also records every thing you look at on the net, the idea being they build a user profile of your \'habits\' so subsequebt months cds are tailored with ads they think you will be interested in based on your web use.

mark its actually 1 min of ads every 20 mins not 5mins of ads.
this deals not my cup of tea but thought it maybe of use to someone who needs a decent pc but can\'t afford one, i suppose you could live with 1 min of ads every 20 if you had too !

I picked the story up on radio 4, I thought 5 mins in 20 was a bit excessive!
