Oils?

I was looking online and saw a shop that sells fishing oils mackerel and Peeler ones. I believe the idea is to smack up your ragworm by injecting 5ml.

Can anyone claim to have has success with these bait aids or are they just a gimmic?

i think there a gimmic alough never tried them but dont you think if they worked everyone would have them?

My mate swears by aniseed. He says he has a pretty good success rate with it. Injects it into his worms (rag & lug).

used to do it years ago,even put worms in cod liver oil,cannot say if it was successfull,it was in the seventies when times were tough.

I inject salmon oil into pike baits and it doesn't stop me catching pike.
Don't see why i wouldn't work on sea baits.

Thats what I think too. Why pay a fortune for Peeler if you can just inject worms with this peeler oil. If this was the case then everyone would be ranting and raving about it. Im sceptical but might buy a bottle anyway.

someone told me a while back that i should spray or dip my ragworms with wd40, i assumed he was taking the p*ss or drunker than i thought he was, as he had been a keen angler for years.
surely this cant work.

wd40 is mainly fish oils, or so im told. alot of people do spay ragworms and other baits with it but dont think it does much IMO.

thanks for the info had been wondering about that for a whille, as there are so many different ideas that sound bonkers you dont always know what to believe.

anything you can do to attract the fish to your bait cant hurt. however if it is oils you want to get out there then surely a bit of sponge or old rag soaked in it above your bait will be more efficient. you want something that will release it slowly, just spraying it on a worm will come straight off as the bait hits the water.

yes something similar to the bait/ lure feeders that the freshwater lot use, possibly something that dissolves letting the oils out.

try soaking bits of spounge in some oils/juices then put them on your grip leads, right down the wires so there fixed to wieght, mabes that would give off a bit more sent?

if you could dry it then it would only activate when it hits the water?

mush up half a pack of frozen runnydown and a bit of water in the blender[don't let your lass see they go mad]till its like syrup, pour it over a plastic container containing defrosted raw prawns and leave for 2 or 3 days,the fish love them.

have seen many match anglers use "secret ingredient"s when match fishing injecting top secret recipes in .. i thinks its just peeler oil ...unless his worms needed a hit of heroin before being sent to drown . i have tried wd40 ..it works when the bites are shy /. altho i know an angler is seaham . he will use wd40 / old motor oil as an additive ...his curried mackerel as well seems to work for him . have seen him pull up 4lb codlin on limpets with wd40 ...so at the end of the day dont be afraid to try what u want to. ur money ur hobbies ur time so with relative consideration do it ur way/

most interesting ....perhaps it was coincidence that the spray of wd40 resulted in a hook up ....come to think of it i do think it was coincidence .....

If WD40 is used with fishbaits it will emulsify the oils and that may help with the attraction.
