tried my new reel out today...bought as a second reel initially... after cleaning the bearings with lighter fuel then re-oiling them with red rocket fuel and loading it with 14lb (0.31mm) sakuma dark crystal started with mags full on for first chuck, over head thump just to see how it ran... into a head wind... there was no line lift at all... next cast a bit more oomph.... extra 40 or so yds... still no line lift .... well pleased so far.. so decided to give it a off the ground cast with loads of power .....bearing in mind the conditions today, a very strong headwind, so maybe about 140yds (just 5oz sinker no bait) and spool about 3/4 empty....
mags down to half and a full pendulem .... off it went like a good un.. then i had to start thumbing as line was starting to lift... about the same distance as last one as i had to thumb it...
i am well pleased with it, as it can only get quicker, when its run in, i cant wait for better casting conditions to see what it is capable of .... ( and me ).... no doubt it will be my clean beach reel..... as for line capacity with 14lb (0.31mm) theres ample enough for me.. i know i cant cast over 200yds with bait

so for less than £60 it seems to be a great deal for a back up reel but only time will tell...

i know a couple of lads who use the 30 size and 35lb line straight thru.... for the rocks and gulleys...no need for hefty casts as distance is not required for 99% of these marks they fish.. short lobs of 40 yds most of the time... they swear by them...
one even uses a 30 for his cliff fishing ..he says the cranking power is awsome but i thought 6:1 would be to high a ratio.. i prefer my lever drag with a ratio of 3:1 for the cliffs.
cheers
Paul
