Old dockyard in North Shields

Anybody know if you can still go fishing in the old dockyard (Smiths??) down from Royal Quays?
Used to fish there a few years ago, pulled some decent fish out aswell , last time I went though the gates were locked.

You can, just walk over the lock at Royal Quays.
