Just after Christmas, Ken Middlemist thought he would put together a small open competition to mark the passage of the Olympic torch through the Alnwick/Amble district.
Amble SAC have agreed to help out with the weigh-in.

He's asked me to put details of the comp on the net, so here they are...

2012 Olympic Torch Open Shore Angling Competition.
Sunday 10th June.
Fishing from 12.00 noon to 5.00pm.
Weigh in from 5.00pm to 6.00pm at the Radcliffe Club, Amble.

Tickets are £12 for seniors, juniors fish free when accompanied by an adult and have their own prize table.
This is a 100% payout cash prize match.

1st prize will go to the heaviest single fish.
Further prizes (total depends on entry numbers) are then awarded in order of total bag weight, but no angler can win more than one cash prize.

Trophies, kindly donated by Amble Town Council, will be awarded to
Heaviest single fish
Heaviest bag
Top lady angler
Top junior angler
Top disabled angler
Specimen fish

Boundaries are:
Lynemouth pipe (south)
Seahouses south pier (north)

Maximum of 3 single hooks or 1 treble hook may be used.

No angler may use cart or any bait which includes uncooked edible crab.

No wrasse are to be weighed in.

All flatfish (27cm minimum size, 35cm for turbot) must be presented to the scales in a bucket or container of fresh sea water, OR THEY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
We do not want to see flatties coming in plastic bags.

Tickets and buckets will be available from the Amble Angling Centre on the morning of the competition, from 9.30am.

THIS IS A PENN POINTS MATCH.

Any other species ineledgable tony mackrel for instance ????

Yeah, there's a rules sheet being given out with each ticket. This'll list the ineligible fish.
Mackerel, wrasse, silver eels, rays bream, lumpsucker, greenbones, are all ineligible just off the top of my head.
I'm sure I've missed another couple though.

cheers tony usual rules apply then mate it was just that the only fish mentioned was wrasse that was not allowed. cheers mate ill probz have a go at flatty bashin for this one mate :D

Just over a week to go to this one.
If anybody wants to pre order bait from Normas to pick up on the day, give her a ring on 01665 711200.
Hopefully, tickets will be in the usual shops this week, but can be bought on the day from the Amble Angling Centre.

there was an article in the paper saying if you take fish back in a bag you will be disqualified (as in your thread also).

Just flatties mate.
We want to get as many back alive as possible.
You won't be disqualified, but the fish won't count unless they're in a bucket of sea water.

Good news for the juniors...

Greys have very kindly given a new GRSX Bass rod for the junior winner.
Smashing rod, casts 3 to 5 oz and is 12'6" long.

Amble Town Council have also provided Engraved crystal trophy's to commemorate the event for all the winners, these will be personalised to each individual winner.
