On a happy note

Well 8 weekends left of 2010 summer boat season and that makes for bad reading but on a plus side it has been some season for just about everyone i would say, with most people calling a day with 4-5 keeps a "not so good day" when last year we would of been over the moon.

Lets see how many big ling get landed in the last few weeks.

I am hopefully out tomorrow so I hope some of those big fat ling are hungry:D

havent had the chance to get out much this year, but from what I have read in the reports the fishing has been exceptionally good.

You seem a bit of an expert predicting the weather Rich. What do you reckon for tomorrow ?

cheers

Jonny

Fast drift most if not all of the day, will be choppy as the winds will be gusting. Iam unsure as to how long i will stay out but am should be the worst of the day and dropping away.

All guess work thou.

Should be ok but with tide and wind it be rough ground time i would say.

Infact only had 9 trips calle doff so far this year and made it out more than any other year..benn very good getting the weather right and sometimes risking it....late start for me Sat as going to check out what these 24mph SW winds will do to the sea over night.

When the tide turns at 8.30am it'll be wind against tide so will slow the drift ... anyway should be so much weight of fish in the boat by then that it'll slow us down like a drogue ...:D :) :) roll on the sunrise ......... :) :)

(might be a little bumpy at times though :) )

What time are you starting this weekend Norman? We might give it a go with an early start, say 7 or 8AM.

this has been the best cod season we have had for a lot of years, talking to a trawler lad the other day he said the same
looks like the shore lads will have a good winter as well

We managed a couple of hours practice this afternoon when the children both out-fished me. Heading off to the rough ground at St Mary’s I aimed to keep inshore to avoid the worst of the wind. There was plenty of fish there, no monsters but enough to keep us entertained and I was pleased we passed a shoal of mackerel as the worms were soon used up. Tomorrow, we’ll head out at about 09:00 and make a full day of it probably finishing back at St Mary’s after doing a round of wrecks. Any suggestions where to try?
