seen a couple of boats off shields pier 7 am any one heard of out catching another couple weeks for me to get out

Not heard of anything yet, been down Tynemouth myself tonight sea nice and flat but some wind cutting over the sea...we now have the west winds, we need to get the algi bloom out the way then it should be happy days...i hope :)

how long are these winds here a hope the fishings better than last year as me boat was out the water for 3 month being repaired so fingers xd theres loads more trips this year

How long is a bit of string, could be 2 weeks as per what used to be the norm or could be all season. Last year was the worst season i have ever had from private or charter boat by a mile with something like 11 doubles i think all season and very few days with over 10 keepers per person, as was the norm the previous two years.

Mid May i am putting my money on it kicking off, need to get the algi bloom out the way and the bait fishing and mackerel to follow :)

Well hope you get out, the only site i trust is saying ENE winds from 11mph gusting to 21mph for Friday and gusty from the sw for Saturday, it was blowign a gale yesterday btu the sea was flat as far as i could see out.

I wont be trying this weekend thou the tides look fantastic for fishign wrecks IMO

Nice flat sea, wind not bad from the sw and a near perfect tide size for wrecking....i would expect to see some sort of reports today....ow and the colaie have arrived big style on the pier, they getting them 2 a cast when i walked along

looked perfect this morning seen a couple of boats heading in the direction of the yellow can a would of had a test run out if a wasnt at work roll on next weekend fingers xed for lovely weather were the colies taken on bait of daylights

Was out this morning pal fishing not far from the can at st Mary's. sea was canny this morning but few big swells leading up to lunchtime. Got nowt again, not sure if anyone else did owt. Just pleased we got oot after the morning we had. Getting bogged down in the sand not an ideal start to Wor fishing trip. Thanks to tynemouth Volenteers they got us out. What a nightmare

I was out today for a couple of hours myself wind picked up 11am got bumpy did 4 wrecks not even a fish but there was fish showing on one wreck in numbers aswell possibly feed

I have just checked my data from the previous 4 years to see when the first good day at sea was for each year (Good day being at least 5 keepers for myself not the total boat)

In 2009 1st of May
In 2010 15th of April
In 2011 9th of April
In 2012 20th of May

So nothing really to worry about so far, ask me this question come 6pm on the 18th of May and if no fish have shown up by then, are very few then i will be worried.

Richy we were catching fish on the wks last March with the shads, if I remember we had a mini heatwave or was that the summer ???????
Our best days/catches were early in the year, with the one type of shad accounting for most of the fish.
Obviously with the consistantly bad weather we,ve had so far this year things are going to
kick off a lot later, roll on May !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had a run out on Sat just to check all the electronics etc etc, everything is good to go.
Chomping at the bit springs to mind !!!!!!!!!!!!

Davey....................

I cant remember the wrecks fishing off the Tyne in March with me and i dont count rough ground fishing as i dont really rate it but i remember you had some good reports back then, in fact i think i read that report a few weeks ago when i was going back through the history.

I think with last year being a rock bottom year, the pressure is well on this season to get out and fish and more so with it being Stingray's 100% for sure last season in my ownership.

It is amazing how little boat chat is about for end of April, guess it reflects the fishing, mind i cant say anything this will be the 3rd weekend in a row i have not even thought about wetting a line thou will be down for a clean and polish tomora.

Good luck to anyone out at the weekend, its a shame that flat as flat sea will be chopped up come the weekend.
