I've just ordered a kilo of this, it's supposed to be excellent for removing stains from gel coat, and only £6 inc postage. Has anyone tried it.:question:

particularly good for rust stains. gibe it a goof thorough rinse and wax it afterwards though

Hi Chris, I used this last year when the boat was out

A bit pricey at about £15 a bottle and I did suspect it would be rather tame compared to elbow grease ...... but nevertheless ,,,, decided to give it a go.

As we lot always do I used it first then read the instructions second, Off I went putting it on a cloth and started rubbing it in at the most stained area for a test ... but as I suspected all to no avail, hardly even touched the stains ........
Sat down read the instructions ..... "wear gloves, pour on cloth and "lightly" cover the area till all wetted ...... leave for 5-10 mins then rinse off ....." oooops. Got up with hose and rinsed the area .... WOW startling, clean as a whistle just where I'd applied it....
Promptly poured loads on cloth and lightly wetted out the whole hull which took about 10 mins to get around so spent the next 10 mins following on with hose pipe ....... Job Done, ready for the cabin boy to "wax on wax off."

i think it may be cheeper to use solvent cleaner from a diy stor . i have used oxalic acid on old motor bike parts and it done the job

Knew i should have asked first Norman , i'll try it in an inconspicuous place first, if its ok i'll post some pics if it's not i wont admit it..
