Paddy's Hole

Hi,

Band New to the Forum, and soon to be new to boat owning.

I'm looking at buying my own boat at the moment. The type and design has yet to be determined, but generally something for me to potter about with, doing a bit of rod fishing and maybe dabble with a lobster pot or 2.

The main thing which I am looking into at the moment is mooring. I am from Redcar and the local area has few options open to me, Whitby and Hartlepool. But to be honest I am finding both the cost of both these places and the fact that they are a good distance away from home a bit offputting.

Paddy's Hole is just down the road for me and would be ideal. I like the spot as well, but the information about it is very scant. I have therefore a few questions for anyone on here who has a boat there or knows the place:

1.Cost of mooring

2. Who I need to speak to.

3. Generally what is the place like for keeping a boat (Drying, bottom condition etc)

To be honest, I work at sea and I simply havent had the opportunity to get down there in the recent past, so any information would be really useful.

Many thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum :), i would say another important factor to take into consideration is security for your pride and joy....Chris...

have you tried kafiga landings on pool headland speak to someone over there as there are normally a few guys who have berths for hire and normally a 3rd of the price of the marina.

Moorings.

Moorings.

Why dont you go down and speak to the boat owners at Paddys hole, I know there are a lot
of commercial boats there but I think there is a boat club as well. (maybe you can join)
I would imagine all boats moored in the River Tees will have to pay annual harbour dues, might be a good idea to contact the Harbour Masters office for information/boat clubs/fees etc.
Most of the boats in the area I would imagine lift out at H/pool marina for their annual maintainance, I,m moored in Sunderland marina and lift out at H/pool.
Hope this helps a little.

Dave...........

Many thanks for the replies guys.

I think I need to explore the options a little more.

I take the point about security, as I know from distant memory that there isnt much offered in the way of security down at Paddys Hole.

I've not heard of Kafiga Landings, is that near the marina in Hartlepool? I must try to get down there at some stage and see what the costs and facilities are like down there.

Cheers

If your new boat is a 5mt boat, mine was 17.5 ft and i got in the 5mt berths on the west pontoons in H/pool marina and very reasonable prices for what you get about 600 per year
