Parton tonight

Fished Parton for a few hour tonight, only managed 2 coalies. Caught on rag, bit dissapointing really, but good to be out.
When I packed up to come home my Century Tip Tornado would not come apart. I thought how the hell am I going to get this in the car, but fortunatly I had some bungie cords in boot, so just fastened it to roof bars. Got rod home in 1 piece anyway, which is just the problem I now have. - Any suggestions as to how to get the 2 sections apart. Arrrgggg!

Hello,

Don't go puling and twisting very hard, it's eay to break your rod.

If you place the butt of the rod into tha corner of the room and hold the tip end, then gently swing the rod in a circle like a skipping rope sort of action (but obviously not as hard), this is often enough to loosen the tightness in the spigot and enable you to pull it apart.

This sounds daft but trust me it works.

I have had this problem in the past, DONT PUT ANY WD40 ETC ON IT youre best bet is to put something frozen around the joint for about an hour, then try to seperate it in the normal way, DONT FORCE IT if that fails get in touch with century.

a had a rod that got stuck togeather and nothing would budge it but......

if you can get a hold of two rubber car mats and put one either side of spiggot and grip it tight, twist and pull and it should come apart

the mats allow you to get a really good grip, good luck

best way me and my friend have got 2 rods apart by simply getting a bit of washing up liquid and a few drops on the spigot turn the rod upside down let it seep in for 10 mins and pop out it will come

has worked for us on 3 rods

Maybe try wearing rubber gloves (washing up type) to get a good grip......??

Be patient. I had the same problem with my TT Sport, though I drove home from the beach with the tip pointing out of the passenger side window like a jousting knight and a lance

Put some marigolds on as they give you an excellent grip, use a twisting motion turning the two halves of the rod in different directions. Don't force it, if it won't budge put it down and leave it. Took me two weeks to get mine apart but it will come eventually. Took a tiny bit off the spigot with wet and dry and lubed it with some PTFE spray and it has been spot on ever since.

In all the years I,ve had fishing rods I have never seen one or snapped a rod trying to get it apart by twisting and turning. I am almost sure that century and other rod companies would have thought about the design that goes into making the spigot for various reasons and the odd one that does not come apart by strengthening the spigot.

But I always carry a pair of work gloves with me (the one,s with the rubber grips) when fishing as these take any rod apart.

I've poured boiling water on mine when it got stuck and that free'd it off.

tight joints never use wet and dry, have been using a different method and works a treat.

My Century Tip Tornado is now 2 piece again. How can I prevent this happening again - Is wet & dry then PTFE spray best bet? Cheers again

The old tips are the best ! dont use any wet n dry, just give the spigot a rub with an old candle & you should not have any more problems.

got this next bit of info off a friend in italy and it definately workd done this with two rods recently worked great.

clean joint with meythalated spirits then apply grease to joint. put together twist and push in gently. if it dos,nt go in far enough repeat process it took me three tries to get joint the way it should be and the joint is perfect now still after a month.

good bit of info from my italian friend.

i used to use wet and dry but this is better.
