PC Trouble AAAAAAARGH!!!

have now finished the re-boot and re-install....prob is my Hard drive still looks like a swiss cheese...

There are fragmented files which i can't de-frag...

Would a complete Format sort this out?...obviously I'd have to start all over again :rolleyes: but I may as well get it right eh?

in the download section there is windows advanced care personal(free) and iobit smart defrag both seem to good job on mine. One thing i would say is disable auto and scheduled defrag. Ahh and defrag is much quicker using that :)

Cheers...the defrag bit was no help (still got the swiss cheese thing:rolleyes:)...but the other one was good ;):D

It looks like all the re-boot has done has cleared all the active problems out....while still leaving a load of cr*p on the hard drive and thus using up all the space :confused:

It almost feels like I'm installing over the top of stuff that's already on there:confused:
 
hit the format button mate and start all over from fresh installation ,nevermind how long it takes you can catch up on here on a later date ,make sure you install protective software before connecting to internet ,then run the updates for the program you install straight away

its mad! I know I bang on about it but, still amazes me how much hassle is involved with running a windoze based peecee. How the hell, given the hassle you lot get, did the majority of the world get sold down the microsoft river.

Imagine the outcry if they made any other consumer product and these were the routine hassles that everyone seems to accept as the norm

For what its worth, and if you have the storage space, once its all tickety boo create a ghost image of the entiire hard rive, then if(when!) it goes pear shaped again you can just restore the entire disk back to a know working state
 
yeah good advice there. If you got the space or a spare drive. I started running version linux thought it was great and all free :p but since i play alot of games. I have to run windows
