been out earlier to collect a few peeler for the next session. All i could find were 2 about the size of a 50p. So where is the best place to collect them round sunderland where i will not be in anyones traps etc. or am i better off buying them, and where would be the best place to buy them from.
Ah and i left them 2 for another day :)

thanks tony

:) Hi,
mate the best place at the moment to collect them are the open shoreline i was down the rathouse corner area on the beach and got around 20 all of decent size big male crabs are still peeling and if you get peelers they will alll be a decent size this time of year. Also try the river wear sandpoint in the peak season when it was red hot i was walking away with 65-70 a tide mainly lifting the big rocks over.Just checked my traps there only got 15 crab out of 20 tyres, but all huge crab, i would advise if you can't collect your own buy them of the lads who have got loads of traps they seell them a lot cheaper than the shops or you could find a area in the tyne or wear were there is a little space or grid and this way they may go unrecognised to other people so kids or other people won't check.Just you have to go at least twice a week on the tides which you can reach them as some tyres which you dig in silt up very quickly. Personally i wouldn't use peeler until we have the big seas in the winter or just as it drops off as you get some really good cod/codling on them and they are a top bait but can fail at times.Hope this information helps mate:) :)
