Just watched a documentary on bbc4 about the penlee lifeboat disaster which happened on the 18th december 1981.It just goes to show how brave these real superheroes were. All lost their lifes trying to save others no matter what the conditions.
i a saw it myself unbelievable what they did even when all hope was lost they kept on trying to save the last off the crew from that ship, even though they new that there lives was on the line must av had balls a steel deserve a medal the whole crew
absalutly unbelievable what them men did on that night but hopefully that is now a thing of the past with the technology we have now it should not happen but the sea will always be the strongest
i remember when it happened and it sent shock waves around the country i had 2 mates in the merchant navy and they both said every man on the ships they were on gave £10 a man to the fund that was set up quite a bit of money in those days
