Anyone got a spare handle or know a UK based shop that does them, mine has gave up and died and the onyl spare i can find is a power handle on the net for £28 and that is just silly money for a reel worth only £40 more than that new.
 
Had a hunt around and see what you mean mate, bit of a joke price for a reel handle!
Nowt you can do to repair the original?
 
Had a similar problem with a Penn years back. Had another, different Penn reel, whose end plate was cracked, but I hadn't binned it. Took the handle off that. The square drive hole in the handle was too small but half an hour with a needle file sorted that out. Worked perfectly for years after that.

Cheers but they dont fit.

You would think Penn would have alot of service units with parts etc but not many at all, 3 emails and no replys from Penn main UK dealers...not good service at all.
 
My dad has a 245 but no spare handle I'm afraid
Penn also discontinued the 245ld a couple of years ago so u will struggle to get it repaired of find parts anywhere hence the £28

Well i almost give up on this, looks like a £90 reel will be slung int he bin for what should only be a £6-£8 handle.

Be the last Penn reel i will purchase due to the no replys to emails or anything from the 3 UK based Penn part suppliers.

No reply either but cheers, guess the word penn is like saying you are a Nazi after the 2nd word war....no one wishes to talk about it.

Well i have just finished maijg one, its not as good as the one from the shop but its a handle and will do until or if they ever get back to me. cheers lads

Hung over to hell today but smiled when i looked out the window and seen the wind gusting...good call not to go as the sea will be away and even if you made it out the drift be shocking.
 
The lack of fishing has snet me for my first drink since New years day...understand why i dont drink now..feel like poow but would feel worse 8miles out at sea with that swell.

There is a bloke called Mick Simmons (01386 552949) somewhere down country who can get just about anything to do with Penn. I got spares for an old Penn reel that he had had to modify to fit from a new model.

when i had a problem with my reel i contacted this guy ,got back to me straight away ,reel sorted now and working fine ,he might know where you can get a spare part ,or one that might fit
