what sort of price can you pick up 525s second hand for?

Anywhere from £50 to £100 usually, some bargains to be had on ebay if you get lucky.

My supermag extra cost £150 a couple of year back.

Been looking for another mag-fancy abu 6500-but wary of second hand especially off flea bay. Will probs save and buy new.

micks reet be ware of second hand reels from flea bay my 6500 said lost nut when oiling reel replaced very true but what he didnt say is it was replced with a bike nut and stripped,,,otherwise fast and spotless,,,mind my 602 ap mitchel bought as a keep sake was spot on

to be honest mate ive never fished with a 525 but they say you can pull a plug out from the bottom of the ocean with them,,,sounds a bit like the old 9000c

6500 are lovely reels. Especially the green mags. My mate Ian has one.

Would go for the 525 or the 20 for the river. I only use the 6500 on clear ground. 6500 nice reels but not as beefy.
