Sorted it now anyway, penn quality control is pretty shocking!
My mate is on his third penn mag 2 in as many months, both times the foot of the reel loosened from the rivets
My penn fathom 15 lasted 2 trips and the eccentric lever as they call it (the leaver that puts it into free spool and retrieve) went scary loose
i bit the bullet and opened it up after looking at schematic and the bolt just needed tightening
My old usa penn 525 mags just go on and on with few/any problems
The chinaman responsible for making sure everything is nipped up on there new reels must be having a off day
that doesn't surprise me i dont like them one bit
the fathoms are a lot more robust but it makes you wonder if they cant tighten up a important bolt, what else is not getting checked
