Anyone using one of these reels at the moment i like my penn 525 mag extra's and didnt upgrade to a penn 525 mag2 as didnt see the point however these Fathom's look a nice reel and have a mixture of the penn torque and 525 internals using a live spindle and centrifugal breaks.

They look and feel the business

They look and feel the business

They look the dogs hoo haas like...

Reelsport have both models in, both the fathom 15 and the fathom 25. To me the fathom 15 looks the better reel, about the same size as a 525, very good power handle, built superbly, powerful gearing, the works. Spool on the 15 model looks a tad on the small side but would easily hold enough line in the 15lb to 20lb diameters.

The 25 is odd as its much more taller and a wee bit narrower than the smaller fathom 15. It's bulky and heavy too. Would be an excellent reel for rock and cliff fishing as it can hold a large quantity of heavy breaking strain line, which is useful in those situations. Would be uncomfortable to use from the likes of piers, etc, due to its size and weight. The reel you have pictured buddy actually is the Penn Fathom 25.

All in all a think they will be good reels, especially the fathom 15. I'll be looking to buy one sometime in the new year to go with me new rod, and then a will give it a proper testing.

Hope this helps buddy.

Century Eliminator E1000. Finally getting one. Had a good look and feel of one on shields pier the other nite. Feels spot on like, quality piecebof kit. :)

Good choice will do everything you ask of it and more, i had one but was a competition between that and my m427 so it give way to the m4 evo still got the evo like you said cracking rod.

Yeah those look awesome, you can get the 30 and 40 model as well, but they might be a tad on the large side. The 25 states capacities of 320/20, 290/25
,220/30 (yds/lbs) and 320/12, 280/15, 190/20 for the 15. So seems likes the 15 for the beaches and 25 for the rough stuff, too a novice like myself anyway! You could probably just about get enough line on the 15 for the rocks, but as you probably know it never works out like that!

Been using the Fathom 15 for a couple of weeks now and am very impressed,Holds exactly the same amount of line as a mag xtra,Got it running nice on 2 blocks clicked out,
With the bigger handle I prefer it to my supermags and don`t miss the mag braking at all.Really it is just like a cross between a saltist 20 and a 30 but I can tighten the drag up on this without thinking the threads are going to strip.Had a few fish with it and am more than happy .

Yes over rated and over slated ;-)

Actually in my opinion and looking on a few different forums there rather underated and under estimated.

Av never seen many lads using them, but the ones a have seen with them say there brilliant, and thats taking advice also from top anglers and casters. :)
