Hiya mate - cheers! Yeah, beats me - being on the first cast and all! Honestly thought my sinker had come off or something first cast, just wasn't expecting it - must have plonked the bait right under it's nose. I was only pleasure fishing, but it was a mark I'd been thinking about for the open next weekend - hence the caginess about giving too much away!

Cheers, Gary :)

Wow!!! What a cracking Pollack, the same thing once happened to a pal of mine a few miles further up the coast, he found a large chunk of Mackeral that had been left by a previous angler, it was like leather and stunk to the high heavens. For a laugh he put in on his hook and cast out, to our amazement a big Pollack similiar to yours hit the stinking offering half way down, what a fright we got and we still laugh about it to this day!

Well done Gary.

Thanks again for the compliments people - however I can't help but feel that I've now used up my luck for a while & will blank spectacularly in the Sluice Open at the weekend!

We'll see.........

Cheers, Gary :)

to further enhance the hoodoo you'll catch the fish of a lifetime in the club match this week, get your £10 for your troubles and THEN blank spectacularly in the Sluice Open at the weekend!

excellent. ;)

remember once when my reel nested up on the south pier and a crab bait ended up about 10 yards out. managed to get it back within a minute.
to my amazement, a 2lb pollock on the end.
