petrol v diesel...inboards v outboards

Bob i went down York to view the new range of quicksilver 500s last week, they are not as well built as some makes but do the job. The prices you cant fault, brand new with 3 years war for only £13.940 if you buy direct. You can pick up the older models for £8000 and a few of them about.

It is in my short list of 4 boats, bit put off by the engine and the odd bad report over build but seems a nice boat.

Spoke with the lad down there and he said if you order new and buy the equipment i.e fish finder then they will fit it ready for you with no extra cost.

Ritchie, your right about the prices, cheap as chips for what you get, however as we know everything is built to a cost, hence you wont get the finish of the more expensive boats, same really as cars, everything fits into the market somewhere then its down to what you can afford.....as for fitting the toys thats half the fun, bet the prices start rising soon as the summer arrives

Yer i noticed the finish and materials used on the boat not upto the likes of Dolly or Kate but liek you said £24k plus for them boats and £13k for Quicksilver...if i had the money i know what i would go for but like you its not that simple.

I have boat trips book on 5 different charters already this year and have my 1st trip in less than a weeks time up Craster, so hoping for the weather and you cant go wrong with the JFK, fished many other boats but Skinner is the best around in my opinion...still you cant beat having your own boat, one of the best times i have had wreck fishing was with Dave on Dolly when Dave went to kip and said pick a wreck and wake me if its fishing...picked one out 3 miles away, headed off, plotted way points out then set the drift....best feeling ever when wammmm rod goes over and you have the feeling that it was all your doing..think i forgot to wake up Dave also lol.

I would say i spend £900+ a year on charter trips, that seems a lot but its not even the docking cost for your own boat...so why do we do it...for me its the freedom and the feeling of doing and fishing when and where you want...cant beat it :)

When to you expect to be parting with your cash ??? i will be getting mine after me hols ( last week in april ), hopefully by then the fishing and the weather will be improving....having said that if a bargain ( i wish ) comes before then it will be boat for bob, the cash is burning a hole in my pocket and i want to spend it wisely before i squander it

end of april bob? I know a certain little hole at St marys where 3-4lb fish sit there tail down head up begging for royd lures ................. :) :)

I am in no rush really Bob, would be nice to get one this season but cant see it un until next year. Apart from the house i have no other debts so that will give me a chance to make a down payment on a boat, my dad is also chipping in as my man dont want me to get one and he thinks it's a good way of peeing her off :)

Defo getting more and more drwn into the Quicksilver 500ph witht he new 4s out board, by no means the ebst boat on the market but it is like the Fords of the car world, canny and does the job but nowt special.

get your money spent yer tight git, by the way what type of boat did you just sell ???, have you seen the fish eagle for sale on hartlepool marinas site, must be bargain of the year at that price especially with the outboard engine on the back of it

It was a shetland shanty project that i started at the end of last year real mess it was :) but never had the time and also lost interest in the idea.

So much choice on the market our days you can be looking for months. Not really wanting to buy new, would like to find one already kitted out and ready to go, i am in no rush, got loads of trips booked around the uk this year already.

Missed off...yer i had seen that one in person, had a day out at the pool, hull, sunderland and Tyne looking at boats. In person it looked a clean boat, someone has a good buy in that one.

Very few second hand boats around that fits our kind of bill mind, was shocked when i started looking. Down south, like Hampshire and so on has loads.

I was close in Feb to getting a quicksilver 500ph at Hull, all kitted out with some good gear, just been serviced with records, 60hp with a 15hp back up all for £7600. When i rang to see when i could visit and take her out i was told to late sold :(.

Ritchie, i have a few dealers ( all down south ) looking for a suitable boat, as we appear to be after the same style of boat, let me know what your preferences are, size, type and budget and we may be able to do a good deal on a couple of new ones, even second hand ones from the same dealer and save ourselves a few quid each, also you are better getting them without electrics as there are some good deals to be done online from the states, that way your getting what you want....pm me if you dont want to disscus etc money etc on the board
