Pike 20/11/12

I love a bit of lure fishing, mainly for pike with the odd perch. I've had a few pike over the 20 pound mark on lures.
I caught this beauty yesterday on the savage gear real eel in 40cm from a river.

I never noticed, someone picked up on it on another forum. The lure was out in the net so I was lucky it was just lightly hooked.


The take was amazing, 2 of us were on the edge of the river and the lure had been retrieved to the margins. She then appeared slowly and took it, the real eel works best on a slow retreive so there was no chase. We both witnessed the full encounter in crystal clear water.

I was 4 hours away mate, we aren't blessed with pike waters in the north east.

I do a lot of boat lure fishing catching a lot of jacks, sometimes they will take it right at the boat. Adrenaline pumping, especially on light tackle.

There's nothing like actually seeing a Fish take the Lure, it's awesome. That's one of the many attractions to Lure Fishing for me.

Cracking lure caught fish I miss my trips down to semer water and north over the borders for pike had a couple 20's may take it back up in the future the way this winter cod seasons going this year.
