afraid 17lb my best but have had quite a few in double figures
i only deadbait(mackeral tails and small brown trout, i dont know if spinners take the better fish:question:,also i only fish in very early May,so dont know if pike are still lethargic then:question: only fish evenings last couple of hours into dusk.should really get my a-- out of bed and have a dawn session,see what that gives.maybe this may coming up

in may the pike should be fairly active, but they will not be in the best of condition as they will have only spawned in early spring, they will be down in weight and many that get caught this time of year go belly up as they cannot cope with the stress and the heat, many fisheries only permit pike fishing 1st October - 31st march. winter is definitely the best time to catch them and hopefully a Pb as they will be in the best condition and at the best weights, but will be a bit more localised to certain parts of the lake/loch/river.
also dawn along with dusk are the prime times to be on the bank

aye dixons,i only fish in may,its right up on Rannoch Moor:exclam:you have to take the train then walk,no vehicle access.the water belongs to the estate,its a fiver to fish:exclam:when i first went there 10 years ago,they wanted the jacks culled,but now they realize that the jacks play an important part in the whole show,the loch is full of trout brown to about 8 oz,out of prob about 150 caught over the 10 years ive only had to kill 1,and all the rest have swam away quite happily.im getting excited again
