when doesthe pike season start and were is the best place to catch them round here apart from bolam lake?

The pike season is generally October 1st to March 31st.

Got to agree mate, Personally The warmer its got this year the more productive it has been for me.
I caught nothing January, Got a couple back end of February after blanking most of Feb. Bagged up in March and hit a 25 pounder in April.

Sorry J.J, i think what was trying to be said is that traditionally the best pike fishing is october to march. All venues can be fished from June 16th, and you will catch Pike!. There are some venues open now, if you fancy a bit of pike fishing - whereabouts were you looking at fishing?

Thats true, the traditional pike season is October to March and many pikers stick by it. Lots of commercial venues operate this also.
But it's probably a best kept secret that the fishing is better after March.

There isn't a great deal of pike fishing venues in the North East mate, But the usual ones are Bolam, QE2, Barmston (if there's any left after last winter) and the Tees.
To be honest I'm not sure where you are living but I prefer travelling, You can be on the Swale in an hour or up Scotland in less than 2.
If you havn't pike fished before I suggest you go with someone who is experienced as pike are very delicate and it's usually inexperienced handling that kills them.

hi there im a member of the qe2 and do a bit pike fishing but mainly carp but have caught pleants in the last couple of weeks also witnessed a bloke catch about 5or6 in the space of 2hours seened good fish aswell fishing the narrows on dead bait my m8 also pike fishes and has four in his last 2 trips up to 10lb plus a day ticket is 4pound now i think hope this helps m8.

That's good news mate. Served me angling freshwater time there catching perch and gudgeon as a kid. That was the small lake like.
