had my first blank of the season yesterday 31/12/12 the conditions were bad till about 3.30pm when the wind eased a touch. tried ever combination of bait but had no fresh, just frozen, runny, razor sand eel, squid and mackerel....if i fished into the harbour [whitey corner] would have picked up a few small whitey but was after cod. me and m8 fished till 5.45pm then called it a day [its new years eve] with hindsight we should have moved to fish the twin steps for the last 3 hours one and a half hours up and back .m8 got one small whitey.....out again thursday [this retirement thing is pretty canny i do,nt know how i managed to fit in work] a happy new year to all of you and tight lines regards dave db4111

Dave its a funny pier the red light. When conditions are right its fantastic. When they are not its rubbish. Think you need massive sea and Heugh unfishable.
I retired few month back and have time now to get out a bit more.

Best wishes Mick.

hi mick you are right.. ive fished it a lot this season as its my mates favourite spot but its definitly more miss than hit even when there is a sea running and there is nearly always a couple of seals about. and those buggers dont help the situation, ps is it you on the heugh most thursdays?

I have been down few Thursdays lately as visiting family and cannot resist draw of trhe Heugh.
Just a shame its not giving me a decent Cod this season.

Mick.
