Pilot Pier Hartlepool

I would imagine all the piers in that area are Whities at minute, if in the hunt for Cod, you need head for the rock marks.

London rock used to be cracking a long time ago, but its been several years since I have seen anything at all come off there at all.

Pilot / red light fishes in a huge sea, 3 seasons back 2 doublers came off there on the same day but that was an exceptional catch. The immediate right hand side (south side) of the Heugh low water is also good in a massive sea, better shot imo for codling – but you WILL lose a lead a chuck, the ground is tackle hungry as you get, don’t think I’ve ever pulled in clean from there!

as already said you need a heavy sea for the pilot to produce any numbers of cod and in recent years theres still not a lot come from there. casting up the channel or towards seaton will give whitings when its flatter.

many moons ago London rock was a good shot but there were a lot more fish about. it was one of my favourite marks. ive fished it a couple of times this year and a couple of small codling off it. beware with any swell as the flat rocks get washed over. it can be fished from the pier. where the wall ends and railings start cast straight out. light house corner against the works barrier has been fishing really well lately.

the rocks inside the heugh again as said need a heavy sea. you will loose gear so go geared up for it.
