Yep, Shields has chucked out some cracking Plaice this year.

When I lived in Portsmouth anglers would travel hundreds of miles and put in many many fruitless hours on Eastney beach for the chance of a fish like that; yet another reason why I'm so happy to have come home last year

Just becuase it has spots,doesn,t mean it is a Plaice.
Have a look at the belly,Plaice are opaque that fish is bright white.
Its the easiest way to tell the difference....

if the fish is a flounder ,why say it was a plaice, looks like a flounder to me .

Its a plaice, you can tell by the shape of the fins.

check the notches on the head a plaice tell tale sign

stu i have been saying it for years now shields is one hell of an area of a mark to fish,you have everything round there deep water,good salanity,strong current,mixed ground

plaice fishing is exceptional and i have some say sept is the best time for the plaice but a lot depends on the conditions ,but if conditions are not right for the plaice there are plenty of other fish about.

think myself probaly the best shot on the east coast.
