fished poor mans last night, 2nd cast lost a real good fish could not reel it in a was using the rod then gaining a few yards at a time it felt huge,a got it within sight in the surf it looked massive, then it all went slack absolute devestated, but next hoy a got another good bite but after a good fight eventually got it in a nice 7lb9oz cod on rag and mussel bait.had a few more knocks but nothing came of it.

Beauty. It's an awful feeling when it all goes slack after getting it so far in. Especially if it's the only decent bite you get. At least you got this beauty in.

it just felt as tho it swam towards me then when a caught up with it it was gone

Beauty of a fish, well done. Real bummer about the one that got off but at least you got a good consolation prize.

I lost what was probably a double figure Conger at The Cannons in Eyemouth this Summer. The "what if/imagine" lasted for about a week.
