Finnished work 7am friday, home quick wash, fishing gear in car and bombed upto port carlisle. Got there not much after 10am got down the sand just as the bore passed. Fished just to the left of the island. Weather was terrible blowing a hoolie right in my face, had no confidence as usually port carlisle fishes really bad in a northerly. No great numbers of flounders, but did manage to scrape 8 out unusually 7 of them were on rag/macky and only 1 on fresh crab.
Left port carlisle about 1-30pm and drove along to silloth had a bite to eat then parked up along from the nursing home to fish low water at tommy legs. Its that many years since i fished tommy legs id forgot how much of a hike it was over the sands (around 25 mins or so) set up to the left hand side fishing 1 rod with rag & macky the other with fresh crab. By this time the wind had droped somewhat and fishing was a lot more comfortable. It was fish from the off, for the first hour or so about a 50/50 mix of flounders and dabs after that it was nearly all dabs (loads of double shots) with just the odd flounder thrown in. The fish were taking all baits with no apparent preference. Fished 2 hours down 1 & a half up must of had aroundaround 45 to 50 fish out, nothing big best a flounder around 1 lb 8 oz.
Back to the car to try and find a chippy, found a one called johns plaice absolutely superb fish and chips (better even than the red hut at shields and thats saying something) after the fish & chips drove along towards skinburness and found a nice quiet layby to get my head down for the night, just got nicely settled down and into a deep sleep when i was woken suddenly by bang bang bang on the car roof, nearly shat me pants, was just the coppers checking if everything was ok, then they went on their way, thought they might have moved me on as theres loads of signs saying no overnight parking but they werent bothered luckily.
Got up next morning and decided to have a few casts before i headed back to port carlisle for top water. Only managed one solitary flounder there. Headed back to port carlisle and fished the bend on the road, my favourite spot. The weather had changed so much since the previous day, very hot, no wind a beautiful day. My hopes were high for a bumper catch of flounders but for once i was very wrong they didnt show for some reason, at least not in numbers only managed 3 out and lost one.
All in all though an enjoyable trip out with a change of scenery and quite a few fish. Took some pics but my broadbands down at present, ill post some up when it gets sorted hopefully tomorrw.

Sounds like you had a good session I'm off over maryport today for a few hours.
1 thing I was shocked about is that you rate the redhut chippy in shields ... There isn't a decent 1 on ocean road IMO ( and im a greedy foodie)

Sounds like a canny couple of days Micky, apart from the Coppers scaring the crap out of you.:D Nice report too.
