Powewr Cut-Frozen Bait

My power has been off for 12 hrs now and I have an under bench freezer maybe half full of various baits. I havent opened the door to look in yet as it's advised not to. How long do you reckon the baits will last before spoiling? Got cart, peeler, squid, blacks, bluey, mussel in there. :(

As long as you keep Door closed you should be ok for 24 hours. If it thaws a bit it will still most likely be ok. Look how many of us re freeze bait anyway in the Winter, Summer, different matter lol.

Can you not put all your bait in a good plastic bag, and ask a neigbough for room in their freezer with the pomiss of the odd fillet of fish in the future:)

Lucky you! My garage freezer went of then I got ripped off on Gumtree on another one! All my bait is now in the bin. Luckily it was mainly Macky & Squid & a few woims. If I don't get my £30 back for the freezer that doesn't tomorrow I'll be proper vexed! (I should have kept all the manky bait & shoved it through his letterbox)

frozen bait

I tend to take some frozen bait out with me as I live miles away from any tackle shops just my luck they have no live bait when I turn up , so frozen bait means still out for a few hours as its a 50 mile round trip for me down to the coast
any bait I don't use just put it back in the freezer for next time squid. mussel. sandeel. blacks.

Update:
The power was off for 23 hours total (3300 homes affected) and i took the chance of not opening the door and hoping it would be fine. As it was really cold outside anyway it all survived the full period without a bit of thawing.
Obviously being so widespread I couldnt ask neighbours anyway but did think about borrowing a small Genny if it had lasted any longer.
On a more positive note, got a letter from the Powergrid offering £100 for the inconvenience, happy days. :D
Dale19, thats the exact reason I have so much of it stored away, I live inland and work 8-4 so the chances of getting any fresh during the week if I fancy a trip out are remote. I'm about the same distance from the coast as yourself.
