uncooked frozen prawns do work, ive had cod and yting on them during the winter from the shore but have never used them during the summer months or from the boat, hope this helps.
I keep a bag of asda frozen prawns in the freezer for bait when I want to go spur of the moment. I've had flatties and coalies on them. Me mate has had a 2 pound cod and a 2 pound bass on them. Definately worth having for emergencies.
I took my wife fishing about 2 years ago, and as she does not like putting live baits on, she tried prawns (tigers from asda), she caught a cracking 6lb of blyth pier, no other mixture of bait, just a single raw prawn, so I would say good bait in the right conditions.
tried some once but they only got as far as the kitchen they were delicious pan fried with a few delicate spices inside a nice fresh crusty bun and like a say delicious
When you guys talk about using prawns, do you use the ones with the shells still on or the peeled ones? I'm curious as I often go out on a Sunday night, last minute, and the tackle shops are closed so a supply of back up bait would be great for me. Just not sure what kind of prawns to buy as there are so many kinds.
either, i don't think it makes any difference to the fish, even so in the natural state the prawns would defo have a shell on, but they must be raw not cooked.
