Has anyone tried these headlights before?? Saw one in Frasers the other day for £70 and they don't look much for the price, but I see you can get them on Ebay for around £40. Worth the money or not?

well worth the money...do a search on this forum and there's a very in depth thread done by bigpaul into battery life on these headlamps

I've got one and it's the nads...yeah you get bigger and brighter but in my opinion you can't go wrong with one of these...stick it on your head and away you go...TIGAs seem to be very cumbersome in comparison to this headlamp

My mate and I have one each, very rarely does the samalight come out to play now, especially good when you've got your chesties on.
We cannot recommend these lights enought, they offer excellent value for money, have a look at the Nova prices, these are just as good if not better especially the simple light changing selectors, the beam is spot on too.

How far does the beam on them reach? Their website states the high beam can reach 91m or so. I'm a touch sceptical of LED headlamps, as they all appear to be naff!! :p:) Do they really pierce into the darkness?

This headlamp does not even compare to normal cheap LED headlamps...the beam does not reach as far as the car sized headlamps like Tiga and Samalite but then for the price and size and ease of use in comparison to those, this is very very good

Bought one on Ebay for $77 :):):) Probably take a couple of weeks to arrive!

Got some Fujicell 2800MAh batteries here which should go nicely with it. ;)

Just hope it's marked as "gift" otherwise you'll get stung for duty and pay the same cost you'd have paid over here...I paid £65 from a UK supplier coz I've been stung like that before

Excellent light for a small battery operated one. I got mine from the states and took about eight days to come and avoided any import taxes. As people have previously stated this will not give as much light/distance as a tiga but is miles smaller and lighter and suitable for a good nights fishing. Gives off a nice white light too.

Mine lights up the cliffs on full power from a range of 150 yards away.

Hope this helps.

I emailed the seller earlier asking about import duty and whether or not he could label it as a gift. A lot of people on the WSF forum have bought the same item from this seller and not had a problem with regards to being stung with import duty. :)

Bear in mind though that marking something as a 'gift' only means that the duty and VAT threshold is set a bit higher - at £36, including postage, instead of the £18 it would be for a normal purchase. It's not a get off duty altogether thing.

The Princeton headlamps on eBay work out to just over £40 delivered if I'm not mistaken, so they're eligible for duty and VAT, whether they're marked as a gift or not. If they're getting through and people aren't having to pay duty, I'd be inclined to put it down to good luck, not anything else.

Even if you pay UK prices of £60-£70 you will still get be getting a bargain.
This is one superb piece of kit, just make sure you buy a quality set of 2700mah rechargeables to go with it. I'd personally recommend GP brand they hold their charge for weeks even if not used.

I got one this year as well, have just upgraded the main LED to a Seoul P4, there's a how to on Candlepowerforums, pretty much doubles the output of the main beam, well worth the effort.

How does that effect battery life though?

how much and where do you get them from please

I bought mine on Ebay from an American seller called sebastian-11 for around £43 delivered. UK retailers sell them for between £60-£70.

I got the upgraded LED from DealExtreme.com, had to wait a couple of weeks for it, but it was only $5 (yes, 5 dollars !). It was a bit fiddly to solder being so small, and you need to replace the heatsink past as well, that's about £5, so all in all it's less than a tenner for the upgrade. A lot of people seem to be changing the reflector as well, but I just reused the standard Apex one.

Not sure about battery life, but according to candlepowerforums it's about the same as before as the Seoul P4 led isn't more powerful, simply more efficient. Will find out soon.
