PULLEY LENGTHS

hi all, got to agree with chukka here please dont use them next to me unless using a straight overhead thump, must be the most dangerous rig on the go wish they had never been invented,i think they tend to be popular because they are easy to tie up and are pretty effective. i have to agree on a previous comment on long hook rigs trailing on the bottom they tend to give up better fish and produce more fish under certain conditions my favourite rig but the most complicated regards john

blastman, when you say please don\'t use them next to me unless using an overhead thump. Is that talking to the idiots that use any different type of casting method. If it is I would totally aggree with you mate. I think that you would find that most of the people on here are very safety orientated. I have been on piers and beaches where people have used different types of casting (pendulum) and would say that it did not matter which type of rig they used, they did put peoples life in danger. It is not a matter of which rig you use it is the person that uses it, that is the problem.

Jim.

I\'m no expert but I\'ve never known anyone to crack off purerly because they were using a Pulley,as a rule I never fish in someones back pocket unless they are with me and then I move away to cast,as I said before I don\'t use mine again and again and I always check mine before I start and when I\'m baiting up,seen more near misses with poor casting/poor observation than I have with poor rigs, sorry lads but its a new one on to me

Lol Finn.......
You\'re not gonna let me off the hook about this are you.....lol

See ya PMs

got to say i use them all the time i do vary the hook length, but as for crack offs or swivels giving way never had this problem. i also thought that most of the pressure from a cast was absorbed into the rod and not the terminal tackle. i do believe that if people did take the time out to develop casting skills then maybe this could result in less fatalities lol

john ;)

hi all ,a friend of mine uses 100lb line for rig body on a pulley then uses 80lb for hook length but then he uses 4/0 kamasans match hooks so if the hook gets fast they pull out dont understand the sense in it . question here what is the safest way to cast i think we all know pendulem casting has been banned in competitions before. i tend to go fishing early morning so flying leads are unlikely to hit me as i cant see many people as daft as me going down early in the morning, just dont like the pulley rig regards john

i cant see that the type of casting has anything to do with the rig ,we normaly fish as a 3some i overhead cast while my cousin uses the off the ground and stevie uses the pendulem method ,we give him plenty of space lol ,my point is both me and stevie use the pully rigs and havent had any problems casting and get a better retrieve rate than my cousin who uses the wishbone rigs, tied properly with good line and links ,best rig going IMO
