I've tried river and Sea and it's becoming a problem. Spent last night on pier casting with bait unclipped! No distance!

i was using gemini ones the other day and it never released from the clip even when i brought it in and dropped it down the side it stayed on :mad:

for genie ones
1. your hook snood should just be tight enough to clip down.
2. your trace body needs to be atleast 30 inches or longer.
3. you need to have a bit slack line as the lead hits the water, if you thumbing the line before it hits or brakes are right up it might not release.

So any side winds or brakes on tight and it might not release or a short snood there isnt enough slack for it to unclip, also if the pulley is really tight and your trace body is pulled a canny way through the swivel the hook needs to unclip and retract up so it might not release. try some different ways mate.sure you will crack it.

imps release every time

do they breath underwater ok ?? lol

Top notch lads. Plenty for me to think about. Sure I'll sort it. I've been experimenting with diff hook length. Trying to find out what depth the bait is more efficient when looking for Cod...
Cheers Boys...

I wont go past imp's. They release every time without fail and the snood never releases during the cast, no matter what length. Used genies all the time but got sick of them not releasing. As it says on the packet of imp's..... "Clever little devils" ;)

Might pick sum up when my rig wallet empties!

experimented a lot wth bait clips and i am still doing so.

by far the best i find are the imps next to them i like the mushroom type not the magic mushrooms the geminis.

by far the biggest problems i find the bait clips not releasing are the side winds.

fishing off the beach a straight north or south wind are terrible for this prob i have some rigs tied without any clips for these occasions now.

the gene clips i find if ya snood is too short and having to pull down to clip on the bait clip sometimes does not release on calm or windy conditions but with a bit sea on they will release moving about in the tide or swell why i like the bait shields always realease when hitting the water pushing the line to release the hook no panel pins was harmed whilst making this post :D

ya got to have a panel pin in a pear tree .

panel pins- i used to get the long ones and knock them on the head and impale them in top of lead and bend them over so you have a hook for hk to go in canny bait clip.

this used to harm the panel pin though.

Maybe your bait is slipping down and round the bend in the hook or when your baitn up there's to much near the point of the hook there for stoping the clip coming off, I had this problem too now I leave the bend free and no matter what i use now it releases

Try using pulley beads, the Gemini ones are good but expensive. Or try using a thicker sinker line, this stops the line from crimping and not releasing. :)
